William Vivian Teasdale

February 5, 1925 – January 29, 2020

William Vivian was born on February 5, 1925 at Chester-le-Street , County Durham in northeast England. He died January 27, 2020 at the age of 94 years after a short stay in hospital. William left Hexham with his brothers Ronald and Sydney to fight in WW2, where he served in Burma and India. He married Joan Kent in 1950 and brought his family to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1957. He was an electrician by trade and had a long career with Canadian National Railway maintaining diesel locomotives. They established a large social circle in Edmonton with whom they enjoyed competitive ball room dancing ,bowling and house parties. He loved to take family road trips through the mountains to the West Coast, tenting along the way. They also enjoyed escaping winter in the warmer climates of Hawaii, Spain and Australia. He was the primary meal preparer in the family and sang and whistled as he worked in the kitchen. He was predeceased by his parents James and Ethel and his brothers Ronald and Sydney. William will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan; his son, Peter and his wife, Shelley; his grandson, Matthew and his wife, Rachel; and nieces, Maureen and Lorna.

Allyson Lynn Kuny (nee Jacobson)

September 22, 1953 – January 18, 2020

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our Mother Allyson Lynn Kuny (nee Jacobson) at the age of 66 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Megan (Samantha); son, Aaron (Tara); grandchildren, Steele (Kirsten) and Jordan (Cory); great grandchildren, Kayden and Sienna; sister, Valerie (Robert); nieces and nephews; all her fur baby grandchildren and her loyal dog Sushi; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; son, Craig; parents, Doreen and Bernard Jacobson; and sister, Deborah.

Redge James Slaunwhite

April 29, 1953 – December 24, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Redge James Slaunwhite on December 24, 2019 at the age of 66 years. He was surrounded with love by his son James and good friend Eileen. Redge was eager to help his close friends and family by working on their cars or helping them with handyman things around the house. Redge was a single father and was proud of the young man he raised. He continued his great work ethic as a truck driver in his later years. Those who knew Redge knew he could light up a room with a joke or a laugh. Redge was predeceased by his parents, John and Ida (nee Gagnon) Slaunwhite. He is survived by his son, James Grandbois and granddaughter, Laila Grandbois; brothers; Don (Dianne) Slaunwhite, and Ken Slaunwhite, sisters; Shirley (Joe) Sobochan, Joan (Len) Slaunwhite, and Lorrie Pheasey; close cousin, Ellen Gray; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Eileen Hannah for all the kind support she had shown to Redge during his illness.

Vera Ione Elkes (nee Newman)

November 24, 1933 – December 28, 2019.

Our Mother, Grandmother, Nana and Aunt, our Friend.

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother on December 28, at age 86 years. After falling and breaking her hip, she slipped away quickly and unexpectedly. My sons, Evan (Kristi), Cole, Cameron, my daughter Miranda, and granddaughter Julia were stunned by the passing of their Granny, aka Nana. My sister, Linda (Ray) was there beside Mom, in the hospital when she died. Linda had to go home and console her children Ryan, Sean (Kori), and grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter and Gabrielle. My brother’s children Alan (Jenn), Cory (Moriah), and granddaughter Melody will be missing Gramma Elkes as well.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Fred, son Scott and grandson Kyle.

Mom spent most of her life in the Canadian Forces, first as an enlisted woman, then as the wife of an AirForce man. She was always a strong and beautiful person with a great personality and will be sorely missed by so many friends and family.

Lange Austin Machney

August 1, 1980 ~ November 29, 2019

Lange passed suddenly at the age of 39 years. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Autumn; parents, Gary and Sharen (nee Horn) Machney; brother, Jason (Charity Briere) Machney; nephews, Corey and Lochren Machney; special friends, Magda, Natasha, and Noah; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family in Greece, extended family and friends that will all miss him dearly.

Lange had a great love for his daughter, together they swam, fished, biked, camped, and over all always had fun together.

All family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Lange at his parents home on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Terrance Neil Cave

January 8, 1966 – October 31, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Terrance Neil Cave announces his sudden passing at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the age of 53 years. He leaves to mourn his siblings, Matthew, David, Nita (Mike) Corbin, Darelene (Melv) Burden, Marty (Brenda), Cynthia (Mack) Tremblett, and Carson (Diane) Stroud; 17 nieces and nephews; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Neil is predeceased by his parents, Shirley Maud and Edward Mardon “Marty” Cave; grandparents, Elizabeth Frances and Appleton Cleaves Stroud, and John Henry and Lillian Gertrude Cave.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for their care at Misericordia Hospital.

There will be no funeral service, a family gathering will be held at a later date, and cremation has taken place.

Roger Ernest Tews

March 28, 1955 ~ August 24, 2019

Roger Ernest Tews my beautiful husband, loving father, and friend passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 am at the age of 64 years. I loved him truly, miss him madly, and feel his presence deeply.

Nicholas Edward Koshman

February 10, 2001 – August 29, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nicholas. He is survived by his parents, Suzette & Darryl; brother, Tyler (Bree); grandmothers, Mary Fougere and Baba Doris (Dave) Koshman; his Uncle, Greg (Tina) and their daughter, Jasmyn; Aunt, Cheryl (Gary) and their daughter, Jacquelyn; and many more family and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Ed Koshman and Will Goodfellow.

Gary Edward Anselmo

April 16, 1954 ~ July 28. 2019

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness the family announces the passing of Gary Edward Anselmo on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the age of 65 years. Gary will be forever remembered and loved by his sons, Clayton (Kelly) and Tyler (Lisa); grandchildren, Hayden, Riley, Jake, Isla, Taylor, and Sawyer; siblings, Debbie, William (Bill), Jane, Rick, Tammy, and Melanie; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth Lumnitzer (nee Didow) and Edward Anselmo.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for the care and compassion they provided to Gary and his family.

Octavia “Arlene” Lastiwka

1935 – 2019 

It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Arlene Lastiwka announces her passing on July 9, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Arlene was born on a farm in a district known as Shepenitz, (registered in Hairy Hill, Alberta) and passed away in Edmonton, Alberta.

Arlene is survived by her brother, David (Ann) Ruptash; and sister-in-law, Fran. Auntie Arlene will be greatly missed by numerous nephews and nieces, several great-nephews and nieces and multiple great-great-nephews and nieces as well as other family members and friends. 

She was predeceased by her husband, James Lastiwka; brother, Orest Ruptash; and her parents, Violet and Steve Ruptash.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all the Doctors, Nursing staff and support staff of the Grey Nuns Community Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The care and comfort provided is greatly appreciated.
