It is with broken hearts and great sadness the family announces the passing of Leah Jade Lavallee Matthews on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 18 years of age. Leah will be forever remembered by her boyfriend, Cole Jones; mother and step father, Laura Lavallee and Russell John; father and step mother, Percy Matthews and Valerie Thevarge; siblings, Chenelle, Shay, Gunnar, Hunter,   Jaxson, Simone, Nickolas, and Olivia; grandparents, Margaret and Carl Coates, Cornelia John, Laurie George; great grandmother, Mary Grant; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

In loving memory of John who passed away just shy of his 92nd birthday on Sunday, February 18, 2018.

John leaves to mourn his remaining three children, Victoria, Janice (Larry), and John; grandchildren, Nancy (Jean-Luc), Erin (Kieran), Matthew (Kathryn), Cameron (Courtney) and Shawn; his great grandchildren, Laurene, Alexandra, Adam, and Katelyn; his remaining brother, Dick (Norma); and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley in 2007, and son Garner in 2015.


John was an avid sports enthusiast, devoted husband and father who will be sadly missed.

An internment will be held for immediate family at a later date.

August 14, 1945 – January 20, 2018

Lawrence William Fowler of Sherwood Park, Alberta passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 72 years. Lawrence will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Ian Donald (Liana) Fowler; niece, Mariah Lee Fowler; nephew, Donald Lawrence Fowler; great niece, Raven Sarafina Fowler-Keri. Forever missed by his cherished friends, Clay (Lorna) Dye, Calvin (Yvonne) Billingsley and their children, Mckenzie Billingsley, Saige Billingsley, Colten Billingsley, Aiyanna Billingsley; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Donald Lawrence and May (nee Brown) Fowler.

In loving memory of Henrietta who passed away on December 24, 2017 at the age of 90 years. She leaves to mourn her husband, Ken; children, Beverly Riley, Dianna Vallette, Heather Bennett, Gladys Gibson, Laurie Enns, Ron Burchert, Cathy Warnier, Kelly Burchert, Bonnie McConnell; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

Brian Dennis Murphy age 70, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Misericordia Hospital. He was born on May 21, 1947 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland England. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Murphy and Jeannie Riach. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Jim) Phillippi; two grandsons, Cole and Carter Phillippi of Pleasant Grove, Utah: his loving sister, Alice (Robert) Gray; niece and nephews, Heather, Neil and Malcom of Stannington, England. Cremation has occurred and as per Brian’s request, and he will be scattered along the coast of British Columbia, at a private family service. The family would like to thank the staff and services of both the Misericordia Hospital and Fountain Garden Funeral Services for their care and kindness.

March 31, 1940 – December 8, 2017

John Wilson Charles died on December 8, 2017, in Edmonton, Alberta, at age 77, following several years of declining health.

John was born in Jamestown, New York, to John Fredrick and Margaret (nee Harry) Charles. He grew up in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and received a BA from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. After serving in the United States Air Force, he earned a graduate degree in library science from Indiana University. John worked as a rare books librarian at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, for a few years, and then at University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, until his retirement. John had extensive knowledge of music and interest in fine cooking. For many years he wrote reviews of concerts, operas, and restaurants for publication in local news media. John is survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Rudolf) Amann, Brunswick, Maine; nephew, Steve (Barbara) Amann, Towson, Maryland; and nephew, Ted (Karen Talerico) Amann , Portland, Oregon.

There will be no service. Following cremation John’s ashes will be scattered in Edmonton, Alberta

January 3, 1949 ~ December 30, 2016

Linda Rabinovitch passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the age of 67 years in Edmonton, Alberta. Linda was an actress, storyteller, and very dear friend. She will be missed by all that knew her. 

Linda is survived by her sister, Andrea Rabinovitch. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Sylvia (nee Herman) Rabinovitch and her brother, Mark Rabinovitch.

On November 19, 2017, Dan passed away at the age of 74 in Sherwood Park, AB.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene; sons, Scott(Allison), David(Christine); grandchildren, Preston and Paige; siblings, Martin(Llse), Gord(Marilyn), Bill, Lorraine(Denis Ellard), Judy(Jay Lockwood), Paul(Shelagh O’Brien); and many other loving nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.

Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Wyn; brothers, Jack and Ken (Helen).
