Metro James Kostrub

June 13, 1935 – December 24, 2018

Metro James Kostrub of Edmonton, Alberta passed away December 24, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Metro is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley; two daughters, Brenda (Kevin), Beverly (Shayne); six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Sophie; two brothers, Percy and Walter (Irene); as well as many nieces, nephews, numerous extended family and friends.

Metro was predeceased by his parents, John and Pearl; six brothers, Mike, Bill, George, Ted, Andrew, and Johnny; two sisters, Dora and Helen.

Metro wishes were not to have a funeral, and to be remembered as he was.

In tears we saw you sinking,
we watched you fade away,
our hearts were almost broken,
you fought so hard to stay,
but when we saw you sleeping,
so peaceful, free from pain,
we could not wish you back
to suffer that again.

Allan Raymond Knox

November 15, 1966 – November 6, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle Allan at the age of 51 years. He is survived by 3 sisters, Audrey (Larry) Davis, Cheryle (Barry) Boyer, and Brenda Green; 2 brothers, James and Brian; nephews, Steven, Jason, Jeff, Michael, and Bradley; Niece, Christina; great nephew, Levi; great nieces, Trinity, Mackenzie, and Alexis; special friends, Betty Elkowich, Michelle Britton, and Terina Douglas; his pet cats, Edge and Eclipse; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Allan was predeceased by his mother, Alice Chalmers Knox (nee Patterson); brother in-law, Carson Green; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

Anthony (aka Tony) Charles Payne

January 1, 1945 – October 3, 2018

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Anthony (aka Tony) Charles Payne on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at age 73 years. Tony is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Tammy (Sam) Dufty; sons, Graham (Keri) Payne, and Anthony Payne; grandchildren, Kyle Dufty, Jordan Dufty, Corey Dufty, Alexander Payne, and Andrew Payne. He is survived by his siblings, Janet (Ted) Smith, Graham (Pauline) Payne, Louis (Linda) Payne, Sheila (Mick) Forbes, Martyn (Carol) Payne, Robert (Carole) Payne, Andrew Payne, Barbara (Darren) Holmes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Tony has now joined his wife, Wendy Payne (nee Thornton) and brother, Nicholas Payne.

Audrey Eileen Campbell

May 27, 1958 – September 27, 2018

Audrey Eileen Campbell passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 60 years of age in Edmonton, Alberta at the Misericordia Community Hospital. She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer; her son, Ryan; two sisters, Joy and Marilyn; two brothers, Gerald and Don; aunt, Dorothy; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Donna; and brother, Eugene.

Audrey’s children were the apple of her eye and her best accomplishment in life. She had an infectious smile, witty sense of humour, and was a kind woman. She will be missed by many.

Family would like to thank the staff and friends she made over the years at Everglades Special Care Lodge for the care, support, and compassion they provided her. As well as the doctors and nurses at Misericordia Community Hospital that cared for Audrey in her difficult final days.

In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted in honor of Audrey by the Canadian Mental Health Association at CMHA Alberta Division, 320 Ledgeview Business Centre, 9707 – 110 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5K 2L9

Wilda “aka Terry” Corinne O’Neill (nee Slack)

It is with great sadness that the family of Wilda “aka Terry“ Corinne O’Neill (nee Slack) announces her passing on Sunday, September 10, 2018 at Capital Care Norwood in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 91 years. Wilda is survived by her loving children, Linda Corinne (Marcel), Michael Paul, Patrick Joseph (Lavina), Brian Christopher, Catherine Elaine, and Kevin Joseph. She is fondly remembered by six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and friends. Wilda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph O’Neill (June 5, 1926 – August 27, 1991); her parents, Wilfred and Matilda (nee Reid) Slack; and two sisters, Phyllis and Norma. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Capital Care Norwood in Edmonton, as well as the staff at the Seasons Residence in Wetaskiwin. At Wilda’s request cremation has taken place, a private interment was held at Wetaskiwin Cemetery, followed by a private celebration of Life that was held at the Seasons Residence in Wetaskiwin.

Rosemary Esch (nee Grassl)

It is with great sadness the family of Rosemary Esch (nee Grassl) announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the age of 74 years. Rosemary Esch will be dearly missed by her husband, William; her children, Rose Lynn (Darrel), Sharon (Ron), Laura Mae (Richard), and Stephen (Kate); her grandchildren, Desiree, Ashley, Cole (Kaeley), Jillian (Travis), Elizabeth (Curt), Dustin (Jamie), Alysha (Jordy), Myshayla (Michael), Derek (Sarah), Amanda, Jadyen (Tyler); 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Shirley (Alvin), Tony, Joe, Bob (Sandra), Walter (Brenda); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her mother, Annie and her father, Anton; her sister, Diana and her twin sisters, Rita and Lisa.

At Rosemary’s request no service is to be held and cremation has taken place.

Ron Edward George Allan

April 24, 1973 – August 2, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Ron Edward George Allan announce his passing after a brief illness on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the age of 45 years.

Ron was born in Edmonton, Alberta on April 24, 1973 to Penny Allan and Ronald Bull. He lived most of his life in Edmonton Alberta, except for a few brief times when he lived in British Columbia. As a young man he always took pride in his appearance, and always tried to be the best he could be. Ron loved the outdoors and spent a lot of his time fishing. He had some struggles but was hard working, sometimes working multiple jobs, he was very proud of his position with the City of Edmonton. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his 5 children; sons, Jordan and his mother Shauna, Seth and his mother Tanya, Raiden and his mother Mailai; daughters, Sharly, Angel and their mother, Charmayne; his mother, Penny Allan; brother, Edward “Ted” (Cynthia)Allan; sister, Bobbie-Lynn (Jesse) Pruden; nephew, Chase Allan; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Predeceased by numerous family including his auntie, Jean Allan; cousins, Karen Toma, Jason Bugnet, Dale Allan and Joey Allan.

Sophia Tymchyshyn

August 9, 1945 ~ April 27, 2018

Sophia Tymchyshyn passed on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 72 years in Edmonton, Alberta. Sophia was born in Austria, Ukraine on August 9, 1945 to John and Maria Tymchyshyn. During WW II Sophia’s father was an underground fighter against the Nazis, following the war the family relocated to Edmonton, Alberta. Sophia obtained her education in Edmonton and later went on to get her Masters of Electrical Engineering at McGill University. Following school Sophia maintained a long career with CP Rail as a supervisor in the electrical department. She returned to Edmonton around 1996 to care for ailing father. Sophia was predeceased by her parents, John and Maria Tymchyshyn.

Anthony John Kutera

March 20, 1961 – May 7, 2018 

With heavy hearts and great sadness, we announce the passing of Anthony Kutera on Monday, May 7, 2018 in Fort McMurray, Alberta at the age of 57 years.

Anthony was born in Edmonton and worked as a painter servicing Edmonton and area, Yellowknife, Nunavut and Ft McMurray. Anthony was known for his music and the ability to play the violin. He sure knew how to make those violin strings come to life – he had such a soft soul!

Anthony is survived by his children, Larissa (Scott), Matthew, Cory (Carly), and Lauren (Lane); sisters, Christine (Rudy), Paula (David), and Janine (Laurie); brother, Ken; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, numerous friends, and co-workers.

Anthony was predeceased by his mother, Anna; father, Antoni; and brother, (Jerry).

Helen Lorraine Hawke (nee Campbell)


November 6, 1924 ~ May 12, 2018

Helen passed away at the age of 93 years with family by her side on Saturday, May 12, 2018. She was a beloved mother who will be truly missed, was known to many as “Granny” and made new friends anywhere she went. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, kind heart, love of walking and fondness of desserts. Helen is survived by her three children, Linda Jean (Albie), Bill, and Cathy Ann; 8 grand children; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Jean; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by the love of her life, Floyd; parents, William and Minnie; Son, Ronnie; grandson’s wife, Diane; brother, Lawson; sister, Francis; brother in-laws, Tom and Leonard; and sister in-law, Margaret.
