The family of Russell ‘Russ’ Emory Gillrie are deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on December 24, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 76 years.

Russell was born on August 5, 1948, in Didsbury, Alberta. Russ’ younger years were spent in Edmonton before making Calgary his home for 20 years. He eventually moved back to Edmonton, but his love for the Calgary Flames followed him. Russ spent the majority of his time at Pigeon Lake where his love for golf, music, and good conversation made him a natural host for entertaining family and friends.

Russ was an amazing father to Caitlyn (Thane) and Jourdan (Amber); and a proud Grandpa to Sadie, Aubrey, Teagan, Brody, and Alaina. Russ will be deeply missed by the many family and friends that had the privilege of having him in their lives.

Russ’ legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty.
