July 21, 1959 ~ February 11, 2022
Elwood Charles Joseph McKenna passed away at the age of 62 years in Edmonton, Alberta, on Friday February 11, 2022. Elwood was a cherished friend, beloved relative and devoted husband and father. He grew up in Brampton, Ontario, and after university he moved to Alberta, where he had two children, Brett and Cara. Elwood went on to become a successful businessman working in tech sales during the digital revolution and beyond — he had an impressive career, an unmatched work ethic and was deeply respected by everyone who was lucky enough to work with him. He was also an avid sports fan and athlete who excelled at playing squash and golf.
Through Elwood’s life he was a collector of everything from hockey cards to matchbooks to CDs. But most of all, he loved to collect memories with his friends and family. He had a sentimental spirit and was known for his thoughtful cards and fun-loving personality. He loved to travel and experience life, and he had a great appreciation for music of all kinds (but especially rock music) and attending live concerts. In recent years, he could often be found spending quality time with his wife Margaret at home, rooting for his favourite hockey teams (the Oilers and the Leafs), or taking his dog Jake to the park.
Son of Elwood Leonard McKenna Sr. (predeceased) and Marjorie McKenna (predeceased), brother to Vella, Calla, Kimberly (predeceased), Kip and Jennifer, father to Brett and Cara (and his dog Jake), husband to Margaret and stepfather to her sons Quentin and Jeffrey. He was also a loved uncle, cousin, in-law and had a wide network of friends who were like family to him.
